EMBRACING UNCERTAINTY: HEALING THROUGH AMBIGUOUS LOSS AND GRIEF
Tiana specializes in supporting adult individuals, couples, and teenagers (parent-child dyads) as they navigate the complex and emotionally challenging landscape of ambiguous loss and grief. Life transitions—such as becoming new parents or adapting to new, changing familial roles (e.g., mother, stepmother, or caretaker)—often evoke profound feelings of grief and uncertainty. These transitions carry an element of ambiguity due to the lack of closure and unclear finality, leaving individuals grappling with unresolved emotions. Tiana’s notable expertise lies in helping her clients process these ambiguous losses—whether they are preparing for the imminent loss of a loved one, coping with a significant medical diagnosis like cancer, making sense of parental separation or divorce, or facing the unknown—and make sense of their unresolved grief.
Tiana emphasizes the importance of recognizing and understanding the unique, unclear nature of grief that accompanies ambiguous loss. She normalizes that the stages of grief tied to these experiences often mirrors those associated with traditional losses, such as death of a loved one. By helping clients give language to their ambiguous losses, she enables them to make sense of their grief and emotions, providing validation and clarity where uncertainty prevails. This process empowers individuals to find meaning and hope in the midst of their pain, allowing them to reclaim their sense of self and forge a path toward true healing and resolution.
In her work with adult individuals, couples, and teenagers (parent-child dyads), Tiana holds a firm belief in the resilience of the human spirit. She empowers her clients with practical tools for success—personal growth, insight, and resilience. Through psychoeducation, Tiana ensures that her clients gain a deeper understanding of their minds and bodies, fostering personal agency and creating opportunities for meaningful growth. Ultimately, Tiana’s approach enables lasting change and helps clients navigate life's challenges with renewed strength and clarity.
